New dawn of Tamil cinema

Image
I am just excited as I was 20 years ago when I eagerly awaited few actors and directors and musicians releases per se their movies, today. The reason for this excitement lies in new age actors like Nayanthara, Dhanush, Vijay Sethupathy, Bobby Simha, Jeeva, Vishnu, Vikram, Suriya, Karthi, Dinesh, Vimal, Prithviraj, Siddharth, Thambi Ramaiah, Bhaskar, Jayaprakash, Soori, Sasikumar, Arulnidhi, Sibiraj ..... Image Courtesy-www.youtube.com Image Courtesy-www.tamilcinemastills.com Image Courtesy-blog.plig.in All above actors have dared to try different things especially Vikram putting his career on line with some stunning portrayals with little regard to Mass movie appeal, yet they do fall back to honeytrap of mass entertainers............................ New age actors are more in comfort zone to experiment without any kind of image issues or fans expectation. Especially Vijay Sethupathi, Siddharth, Dinesh, Arulnidhi are few such talented actor...

Jil Jung Juk- 3J's to good entertainer

Image
Wow i am at last feeling comfortable watching Siddharth's acting. What do you mean, he's the darling of many lovely damsels, young oozing females of Indian ethos, and envy of many a talented actors-male. Siddharth's stereotype kind of angry frustrated looks of Boyz/ Bommarillu/ to other movies has made me feel move away from this talent hotbed's exploits. The KaviyaThalaivan/ Jigarthanda has pulled me back to sit up and see his metamorphosis. Sure its bit hard on a actor with prodigious talent and out of box thinking in an industry hell bent on formulaic offerings. The carefree attitude to try new things seems to synchronize with the Tamil movie audience too. The title has hit a jackpot and character introduction too is offbeat, but one thing is 3 main characters must have been balanced well Siddharth is all over the movie, other 2 characters get a minor part to play in a plot which could have been more involving with other 2 protagonists.  Problem wit...

To be Tolerant is to walk with Intolerant

Image
Whatz wrong with our ruling dispensation? Modi's swagger to outside world about Tolerance, brotherhood and amity does not seem to percolate into its ruling ranks. Ok Khans have this once in blue Moon enlightened moments when they open up to a dil ki Baat, whatz wrong. These entertainers have worked their way up through sheer hard work in terms of talent and perseverance without much lineage baggage hence ought to take a call on today's state of affairs, similarly the opposing camp to Khan's thoughts Khers and Rawals. So who's Right. and Who's Wrong? The heroes of Against Camp are not ordinary heroes running behind heroines/ bad example to their fans or being a tamasha to idol worshipping followers, the above 2 Khans have taken meaningful roles in their cinemas for wider audience and for that matter even the FOR camps kher and rawal, hence the duel is interesting from cine artists perspective. Gods smile on human vermins

Its no mean feat to get drenched more than 24 hours in Monsoon rains....................Chennai has witnessed one such phenomenon starting yesterday 8th November 2015 till date 9th November 2015, 1.00pm. I am thrilled beyond my out of world imagination to see such downpour. Its been years since I have seen raining like cats and dogs. True I am oblivious to innumerable potholed roads, unthinkable gaping manholes ready to devour me and unsuspecting live wires snaking through in the flooded streets. If life has to go in these dangers let be it, who can stop before which I like to pen my heartfelt joy of this bountiful rain. be it the soaked smell of the vegetation, scurrying small animals from the incessant rains, and the sounds of spattering rain from roofs, tin awnings, trees and window sills. The air is so moist that even the floor we thread on is chill, the need to frequent loo is more a pain in this season and yet enjoyable. Our building has even begun to show water seep...

Modi Sermons- a gaseous affair

Dear TV viewing nostalgic Indian citizen, Its a forgone conclusion that our Gujarati Prime Minister Modi is more smitten about a CEO kind of attitude than a leader who could blend effortlessly with its people. Why this accusation of Gujarati Prime Minister because, Indian Diaspora is not just Gujarati, Its Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and Punjabis....................just singling out done by one particular vocal community does not mean you are a heart throb of the nation. True Gujaratis entrepreneurship and dynamism has added magic across various fields, but nevertheless India encompasses from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Kutch to Meghalaya. As a good leader he must have thrown open his charms to all other communities. His Gujarati overbearing is slightly nauseating. What has he done to earn this epitaph, i am least convinced when he goes about with the air that thou is the noblest, his tenure in Gujarat has been very controversial, apart from th...

New age fast food movies.................Madurai Malli Poo Idlis and Chennai Parottas

I had the time for watching 2 movies on small screen, one was Jigarthanda and other Manjapai. Madurai Malli Poo Idlis Jigarthanda had all the making of a new wave movie makers from Kollywood; the class the characters adaption, background score, camera angles, casting and the no airs actors filling in the shoes.................a wholesome movie which will be remembered for its strong script. On on takes or overruns other character, which is all characters have done justice to their assigned roles be it Bobby Simha, Siddharth, Lakshmi Menon and other character artists. Jigarthanda is a definite Big screen experience especially with BGM. I would give this a 4.5 star rating. Full marks to Master at Helm Karthik Subbaraj. Chennai Parotta The other movie was Manjapai, many said its good, but seriously such movies have been made and this script raped many times over in 80's and 90's. The superficial acting by movie's heroine Lakshmi Menon- her other roles hav...

Jurisprudence- High Pedestal one Stands tumble one takes

It was sad to see own brethren berate and belittle in front of neighbours and strangers. And all of sudden you find a urchin kid the star of the block. The same neighbours and strangers who took turns to heap S*** on this person now roll out Red carpets and pen flowery salutations. So this is the world we live in, Mighty gets a golden handshake while brave gets a bullet and pariah gets the boot. By now one does get to understand who is now getting the golden handshake and head over heels treatment in affluent lands. Now a high priest at World's mightiest and tallest temples gets to look other way at his backyards race tensions. Baltimore is still not on fire but the embers are giving way to bigger wild fires. Race tensions and caste- communal violence- different yardsticks for different nations. India never had race tensions since Independence as it was more of petty violence on personal greed and possession of things. Lets put it as a fear of insecurity of losing som...
