New age fast food movies.................Madurai Malli Poo Idlis and Chennai Parottas

I had the time for watching 2 movies on small screen, one was Jigarthanda and other Manjapai.

Madurai Malli Poo Idlis

Jigarthanda had all the making of a new wave movie makers from Kollywood; the class the characters adaption, background score, camera angles, casting and the no airs actors filling in the shoes.................a wholesome movie which will be remembered for its strong script. On on takes or overruns other character, which is all characters have done justice to their assigned roles be it Bobby Simha, Siddharth, Lakshmi Menon and other character artists. Jigarthanda is a definite Big screen experience especially with BGM. I would give this a 4.5 star rating. Full marks to Master at Helm Karthik Subbaraj.

Chennai Parotta

The other movie was Manjapai, many said its good, but seriously such movies have been made and this script raped many times over in 80's and 90's. The superficial acting by movie's heroine Lakshmi Menon- her other roles have amply justified her talents but this movie is a BIG let down and Vimal's more than less convincing contrived emotions and above all his trademark expressions were all strewn over. He must begin to innovate his acting talents with respect to improvisations coming with the roles. He seem to carry forever with his dumb sucker looks while flirting and scientist kind of expressions during serious context. The movie gains weight or even stays afloat because of Rajkiran's stunning portrayal. Not because he emotes well, he crept into the character very well with the soft tone demeanor used superbly in the movie. His stature commands respect and the rustic look. Hats off to veteran of many movies. I would give this a 2 star rating.
