I Dream........

Jawaharlal Nehru's India still dreams, I dream, of Nehru's progressive and vibrant India, I dream, of Mahatma's casteless and bigotless society, I dream, to stand behind my ideals and beliefs, I dream, to see people seeing tommorrow bring hope, I dream, to see my man or woman serve his/her people, I dream, rise with Hindu, sit with Muslim, smile with Sikh, play with christian, work with buddhist and share with all, the fruits of success and pain of labour, I promise to dream to make my world a better place to live, would like to be part of my dream???

Burgeoning divide of urban classes in India

India is booming in a true sense with opportunities knocking each and every other individual. These opportunities have been varying in scale from bare minimum to highly remunerative services. India has seen a substantial increase in middle to higher income group families. This group is the major driver behind the growth of the economy. They come mostly from the organized services sector (public and private) and some from agribusiness sector; latter being at the mercy of vagaries of nature. To cater to these economically well to do class of people there is a lower strata of semi-skilled or low skilled people. They constitute the unorganized servant maid group, migrant laborers, under privileged social outcaste laborers including scavengers, etc. These classes of workers need an urgent attention for their betterment. The servant maids in metropolitan cities must be valued for their service with a simple set of stipulated guidelines to be adhered to by the employer. The guidelines may be

Looking at the pace at which Indian economy is growing which is a commendable 9.2% at the end of second quarter 2006-2007 and its purchasing power parity is fourth largest in the world [1] . It’s got a lot of dressing up to be done for the final round of the world pageant; i.e. to be crowned the economic and social superpower. Politically India is on sound footing where its electoral system is unmatchable even with US’s flawed voting system as highlighted during Bush’s presidency polls. Taking this as a step stone the bold initiatives of election commission is highly critical as it oversees an important exercise in democracy.
