Burgeoning divide of urban classes in India

India is booming in a true sense with opportunities knocking each and every other individual. These opportunities have been varying in scale from bare minimum to highly remunerative services.

India has seen a substantial increase in middle to higher income group families. This group is the major driver behind the growth of the economy. They come mostly from the organized services sector (public and private) and some from agribusiness sector; latter being at the mercy of vagaries of nature.

To cater to these economically well to do class of people there is a lower strata of semi-skilled or low skilled people. They constitute the unorganized servant maid group, migrant laborers, under privileged social outcaste laborers including scavengers, etc.

These classes of workers need an urgent attention for their betterment. The servant maids in metropolitan cities must be valued for their service with a simple set of stipulated guidelines to be adhered to by the employer. The guidelines may be in any form or structure like:
· A minimum wage for on a daily basis or else hourly basis extracting quality work and minimizing any work pay disputes.
· Depending on employers income group the employee could avail certain benefits like paid holidays, festival bonuses, etc.
· It is to owner discretion to provide more benefits like educating children, providing health care benefits and so on.
· It should be made mandatory that per day maximum workable hours.
· Empower them to participate in social activities like awareness camps, health care camps, etc which could benefit a country like India with one-thirds still below poverty line.
· Child care workers must not be children of school going age.
· Children below a certain age should not be employed and in case should be punishable by law.
· Children in case employed above the age limit should be provided with free education by the employer.
· All workers should be registered to a central nodal agency free of cost to avoid any malpractices and other injustices meted out towards them.
· Other obligations like medical benefits and etc can be worked out with the employer. A case like a service of more than ten years can involve payment like provident fund scheme.

All above measures does not guarantee immediate relief but goes a long way in society’s betterment.
Certain age old practices should be totally banned like scavengers and other lowly work. Even though constitution guarantees right to equality, there is hardly any practicing them. India currently is facing epidemics on global scale and to tackle it requires a huge pool of human resources. Hence the bridging of gap can take place. Even a simple conservancy worker must avail basic human benefits and to provide them each consumer of his/her service must be made to pay.
Hence India must revolutionize on economical scale in true spirit. Each an every one of the Indian citizen must realize the value of human resource and the value derived of its service.
