Sankarabharanam- a start of Musical odyssey
Can there be a better understanding of what a classical art form surviving in midst of western and Hindustani influence go through? a more matured thinking on part of film's protagonist who begins to unravel the wonders in Carnatic music which has no caste, creed, religion or even sex to stop from immersing a soul in blissful union with the supreme.
Music when seen from an unknown source of power makes it more mystic and supreme. the movie captures a struggle between a traditional musical man and the unraveling cruel world around him.
K Vishwanath could not have done justice to Indian cinema more than this creation. Cine goers may not feel dream sensation when watching his creations but the depth it makes in one's experience in movie watching is amazing and generations to come will take leaf out of life and how one must be passionate about one's belief in himself and his art.
The movie made on convictions and sincerity towards the roles portrayed by characters has won hearts.
K Vishwanath was a complete cinema genius who had started his career as a technician in sound department. Having seen the legends through his assistant director roles has greatly shaped his dream project's subjects and creations. He belongs to that era of Artful movie's directors who had projected Indian society & cultural leanings in a positive light to 70's & 80's generation.
The Sankarabharanam's best images which makes this an all time 80's Classic MUST WATCH Movie-
This smiling gentleman has been a winning team player in earlier movies as a Sound Engineer/ Assistant Director/ Screenplay Writer/ Director and much more.
My excitement has no bounds when his work history is given a must read- impressive movies he had worked on and the accolades which he deservedly won-
Let this gentleman's creations be archived and showcased as what a good movie is made of taking into account social issues with minimal vulgarity. Can you believe a director thrived in 80's without vulgar dance moves; gaudy costumes, chaste swearing language and jarring music................We miss Vishwanath Sir's movies..............but shall always cherish his creations..........

The Sankarabharanam's best images which makes this an all time 80's Classic MUST WATCH Movie-
- the shots of film from a cameraman's perspective was amazing with an unhurried pace of capturing Somayajulu's laboured walk, expressions which spoke thousand words when protagonist encounters Manju's many dilemma's is simply super- Balu Mahendra's magic woven over majority of movie as narrated by K Vishwanth, Balu had a calling for his first Tamil movie while handling Sankarabharanam and hence had to leave the project half way through.
- Next the angles at which various characters are done justice from mocking young boy outside Pandit's house to Manju Bhargavi's yearnings to see her Master's face
- The soul stirring Indian Classical music which a formal music learning student should always make a sincere attempt to understand and appreciate- KV Mahadevan Master classical composer
- The subject of social import which makes this a national film of importance- how we treat women and cultural prejudice
- The humour in the scenes of the movie makes us feel the situation as very dignified and contemplating
- How could you make a normal headed Indian to Hymn a Thyagaraya Kirtanas from the movie with ease- credit goes to Lyricist and Musician; not sure if Thyagaraya Kirtanas but definitely heavenly compositions.
