Amma to Plzzzz Amma

Yes, if you are a Tamilian and any way a movie buff, you should get your Tamil politics refreshed.

One wonders why, movie artists are the propaganda materials for ruling and opposition parties.

If say A is enjoying the present ruling term as CM; one must queue before her or his home for their blessings- but why? not for upcoming project or creative discussion but to show case the movie FREE of cost and also to please their INNER EGO.

What ego does a CM have- every man or woman is most enthralled when praised; 2 kinds- Praise for worthy and deserving individuals, while others praise to seek their blessings (similar to archanai to god).

Tamilnadu politics has never matured beyond the cradle. One can go any extent to show adverse adulation even in losing ones self respect and dignity.

This meshugaas culture followed for ages when in a civilised society its nothing beyond serfdom culture.

The popular notion that movies win votes is highly misconstrued by Tamil politicians. The next idea of suppressing freedom of expression through censorship portrays their incompetence.

There are many instances when leading actors and actresses are made to take part in charade events or clowning in front of their political masters.

Pity not a single grease painted artist has the nerve to say NO to this drama. Television channels have a field day depicting this idiocy.

Why should a TV watching harmless rating scorching viewer mind this nonsense. He or she does not have to mind this, but putting up with your favourite stars skylarking in front of political masters is pitiful and distressing.

Of course we all relish the idea of seeing Superstar hugging Ulaganayagan or even current popular stars flocking the stage like Ajith, Vijay, Vikram, Madhavan, Aarya, many more (certainly a blessing because even a event like Filmfare rarely gets to gather all top stars from a industry in one night)

Actors and actresses who have reached pinnacle of their careers enacting the most complex of roles and emotions; return to stage to make a fool out of themselves is very distressing.

One such event which caught my attention was 100 years of Indian Cinema celebrations in Chennai, where every artist stands up on stage and recites "AMMA MANTRA" and returns dutifully to his or her seat. 100 years of Indian cinema does not talk of 100 years of cinema alone but artists and their associations gather a team of subservient artists to stage play performances which praise or eulogize AMMA.

I was shocked to see how degrading the artists where to their profession and also mockery of a event of such magnitude.

Yes present political ruling makes it difficult for an artist to exhibit his or her film without pleasing the current day matters. So was the case with previous ruling dispensation.

Amma is a title given to present day head of state, how would a sensible man call a lady amma apart from his MOTHER, unless you are spiritual leader who has contributed significantly to alleviate human suffering, or even a social samaritan who has earned by respect and love.

Such are the matters in today's Tamilnadu that any ruling party which associates itself with yesteryear Matinee idol MGR; will continue to whip and lash Tamil film industry.

For that matter the previous regime spent more time organising CINE based events than welfare programmes for people in Tamilnadu.

People are maturing, movies have also matured; there is no more Political Jingoism happening on screen no more punch lines supporting any of political outfits. Tamil movies have begun to depict real life scenarios and fantasies and drama and emotions which rock present day grinds in people's life. With such a sea change in movie's why do political masters feel so insecure about their LIFE.

They will feel insecure because movies as creative medium talks about present problems and issues which indirectly or directly reflects present day government's ineptness. Hence their highhandedness to Kollywood.

Easier way to a man's heart is not FOOD but CINEMA. But this man has become more matured over the years. MGR won the hearts of millions of Tamilian during a very turbulent times economically in Tamilnadu.

But today its no more fancy songs praising a woman or mother or even a rickshawallah. People have moved beyond Tamil movies which taught how to respect woman to how to become creative in living life.

This industry needs unhindered support from Tamilnadu government. Not events which capitalise on an individuals EGO.

Treat artists with respect, do not parade them as jokers to one's time pass.

Some artists please some to get favour while others leave alone get kicked around, does POWER mean ABUSE?
