Bhadrakali- Slaying Asura
I stumbled upon this Mythical Goddess in the Tamil movie of Sri A C Tirulokchander made in 1976 on one late afternoon on a Tamil movie channel. The movie made in late 70's portrayed the protagonist in a state of affairs where she is branded psychotic but a stroke of luck eventually leads to the death of a flesh hungry villain and she becoming a Goddess; the plot thickened around the protagonist very well with one particular dialogue mentioning, 'there is Bhadrakali in every woman'. Then i wondered why not remind hapless coy women who have sought equal rights in all spheres of life except in bashing a flesh hungry man yielding a weapon of her choice. Bhadrakali has many associations as a divine incarnate to rid the world of Asuras. She is considered the daughter of Lord Shiva. But why have woman not risen like this blood thirsty goddess in times of extreme danger. I do not mean cinematic unreasonable instances but at least ways by which one ...
