GOSH What's come upon India! chasing our Brothers OUT

Just wonder a Indian chased down the Brooklyn bridge with just a single thought, 'B***** Indians taking away my job, my luxuries, my space and my Country'. By whom a native American but not a African American or a Spanish American or a Irish American. What in a sane mind would do this? In real context who is chasing who, We in Indian take pride in a heritage and culture unrivalled or less competed anywhere else in the world. We can point our lineage conveniently to last 100's of years while other countries existence was just a few 100 years. In this hugely satisfying and occupying a place of pride in civilization: come wretched acts of treating our own kith and kin with venom not a civilized world can bear to stand. Can you believe us chasing down North Eastern brothers and sisters out of our places without even a single drop of remorse for our senseless acts. Who are we to chase? and what in hell has got into us to even think remotely to do such acts. Ab...

Kakaji Bollywood's Superstar

The life in a Glass House- Kaka’s story The news of Rajesh Khanna's demise was not that impacting as was a man and his repertoire of films which swayed a generation of youngsters and levels of adulation never seen till then reserved for gods during pujas. This lasted as long as it brought about the fall of a smiling giant. Yes this sounds like a movie of quick buck millionaire going from BANG to DOOM. But India's first Superstar tag does not do justice to the roles he had essayed and what made him a super star. His mannerisms which were quintessential Rajesh Khanna had blossomed into a wonderful characterisation which charmed women of their perches until then reserved for Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar to some extent. But this late 60’s sensation poured in youth and mix of good looks especially his drop of petal smile. The documentary by BBC’s Jack Pizzey in 1973 at the height of Bollywood Superstar’s reign shows a glimpse what a superstar...

Cong-Egress has Begun?

When Dr. Manmohan had taken the mantle for first time everyone sang the praise of a man who was the architect of 90's reforms which was taken forward with much gusto by subsequent opposition regimes. But as story unfolds when only original cast players have disappeared for ever. Dr. Singh was just a tool while the original Ringmaster who orchestrated the reforms goes to Mr. Narasimha Rao. I do not want to take un qualified conclusions to hilt; this was the verdict from various sources which have dimmed in the paeans sung for Dr. Singh's no nonsense and simple approach. But truth shall always prevail........ Why rake in Narasimha Rao when the 2 decade old bygones have little import now? Its because the present Government lacks the will power especially political will to implement much needed reforms as to Mr. Rao had skillfully orchestrated his troupe; with Dr. Singh given free hand. Next quality of Mr. Rao which deserves mention is a Paragon of Political dharma- how one ...

Telugu Bidda's Katha- SS Rajamouli

Of his dozen movies which include upcoming ones; the one i cherished watching was ' Maryada Ramanna ' of SS Rajamouli. Why a movie which hitches back on a old revenge subject literally made thousand times in different avatars- Samarasimha Reddy, Pedarayudu, Naidu's, Rao's, Choudry's..............all eulogizing the casteist feelings and regional flavor. Every top actor was part of band wagon; it’s an inescapable truth roll your moustache and hit your thigh to show your nemesis that you are game & Alas entire theater in Andhra erupts in rapturous applause. Being man is one, being a Hero man yielding a sickel and butchering your enemies is another. This was the plot in most of Telugu Seema movies and Hero was awash with blood just into the 4th or 5 reel of the movie. More so the camera pans into a house hold awash with women in white Cheeras and sob drenched faces and blood curling cries instead of a normal family setup................................ ...

Telugu Channel Game show Trend setter- Star Mahila

It was a dull afternoon many years back say 3 years ago not really sure of the exact date but may be late 2009, when afternoon programmes were swept aside by a breezy Game show with no nonsense, un-complicated and visually less garish sets accompanied by a congenial host with a fluent tongue in Telugu and equally adept in cinema and arts. The host was Mrs. Suma. What has prompted me to pen down a personality’s rise is her way of carrying the show forward. At times the games where outright childish and desi style innovation with most toys being bought straight out of Ethirajulu Naidu shop or Rathna stores Plastic wares. One wonders if we really could invent so many games out of simple plastic vessel, funnel, and kind of game out of nothing. What stood out in the show was Suma's sense of humour and handling of variety of participants on the show, her subtle way of chiding the participants with naughty predisposition and also ones with no-brainers. The attitude of ...

Supandi Indian style

Things were a heady mix last few weeks; Naxals were busy scheming whom to Kidnap or shoot down or even play the prank ON. Naveen Patnaik and his sleep inducing press speeches was no where to rescue the Collector let alone trying his chaste Oriya warning Naxals. If there was ever a law barring non-native speakers from Political posts; half our Gaddas will be ruled by Naxals and Maoists. At last understanding the value of work done by Alex Paul Menon Naxals had relented. To add to this Tamasha was India's Rajya Sabha nominees; Rajya Sabha can be conveniently taken for a pocket money job or part time income for a full time cricketer. Even when the cricketing icon himself speaks out in Marathi that the game is foremost in mind than the Maroon benches where he would be playing twelfth man every time the session starts. Its all the more annoying when country needs responsible legislators to take the seat and debate on serious issues. Sachin can conveniently call day off as m...

India- Glowing ya Burning???????

I had penned this in 2007; much river has flown and my HATE quotient on present day state of affairs in India is HIGH. India in 21st century- the path it chooses is history in reckoning It’s been some time since I made up my mind to pen an article about my favorite subject, ‘India’. It’s always a gigantic effort on one’s part to encompass a mighty giant in one article. Looking at the pace at which Indian economy is growing which is a commendable 9.2% at the end of second quarter 2006-2007 and its purchasing power parity is fourth largest in the world [1] . It’s got a lot of dressing up to be done for the final round of the world pageant; i.e. to be crowned the economic and social superpower. Politically India is on sound footing where its electoral system is unmatchable even with US’s flawed voting system as highlighted during Bush’s presidency polls. Taking this as a step stone the bold initiatives of election commission is highly critical as it oversees an important e...
