Open Letter to Mr. Srinivasan
Dear Srinivasan Avargalae,
If you have been a regular TOI reader you might have got the clue from their GYAN-INNER PEACE section bang under the editorial (guest writers) writeups..............................nevertheless you must have taken to deep aversion to word TOI by now.
I was pretty amused (TimesofIndia) the first 2 days when they carried Chennai Heavyweight's exploits off the cricketing field; to be frank it’s a newspaper's adventure in exposing a supposedly tainted Cricket administrator. In depth analysis of his links and much more..................but with TV channels being relentless in attempts to get something out of Srinivasan's mouth going in vain, the TOI has gone into override- what do they do they go into deeper and more exacting details and also sketch the who's who will stand by Srinivasan and ditch the Big Boss of BCCI: similar to unfolding drama of a old government exiting and new government taking over...................Indians are more used to seeing this kind tamasha, hence take this liberty.
To be fair TOI has actually gone into overkill on a subject too obvious and blatant to be missed. What does TOI presume its readers- Naive? Incredulous? Story hungry or outright dumb? NO.
Its a simple case of trying to put an arrogant industrialist in his place through a powerful tool Print media. I gather that point if not why do they spend precious print space to a single man's misdeeds and next all too obvious BCCI's nefarious ways of doing things. True Print media has done its job of exposing the hypocrisy from day one when IPL1 was inaugurated. But 6 editions have passed why this over enthusiasm now on part of TOI or other News-print media.
Just because a businessman flaunts his assets and abuses his power within his domain (domain meaning BCCI self anointed rulers of Indian cricket says Srinivasan is right- its satraps Jaitley-Rajeev-Scindia sit smug all through this tamasha and play coy at moment of truth) does not mean media should take it to point where Indian public's mind is loaded with this story for next 7 days without a break. GIVE ME A BREAK guys!
India has much important things to attend to; FM has surprisingly contained CAD monster this fiscal year which is a must to cheer one, albeit his Aadhar going for crazy spin, and Dr. Singh foreign relations exercise, impending Monsoons, 4 wheeler sectors’ growth story stumped this quarter and much more.
It’s a point in time when
you are more used to receiving bombardments for your resignation/
apologies/ prostrate before media requests and many more acts of guilt
cleansing and i might be the single soul to write a letter asking you to do
some SOUL SEARCHING.

India's rich and mighty
have a rare privilege of playing to gallery once in their lifetime and
Srinivasan has his time now. Can one believe the extent of his prowess on BCCI-
CSK- IPL's team has its almost all National players on its company board,
offered company's shares, play for I division league, BCCI board's
members figure in India Cement's payroll and his son-in-law 's dubious role
& what not...............considering one's financial package offered
by Srinivasan what has one got to complain about? So one premise- MONEY can BUY
one’s SOUL let alone his allegiance.
But India has not reached
the dizzying heights of madness in terms of abuse of wealth to one's aggrandizement
when whole lot depending on the game is more transparency. Reliance being a
case- Mumbai Indians owned by Reliance have managed all PR and team management
so perfectly that their idea of hosting parties to winners or even things which
might look flashy does not impact public's 'POOR Quotient'; while Srinivasan
sits in Hot seat and also manages the content creation behind smacks of
gross IMPROPRIETY.
When I term POOR QUOTIENT-
people from lower middle class to middle class to somewhat comfortable class
watching matches on State Government doled out sets and other private
operator's schemes on a digital platform- is the only form of entertainment and
popular nation pass time. Nation’s hard labour time- 8 hours of work- 3 hours
of travel- 7 hours of sleep remaining left for avocation- watching telly. They
have a satisfied feeling of watching quality content after DTH roll out but
when one probes deeper, the picture is a hardworking cricket fan rests down to
support his team and huff and puffs through entire match expressing entire
gamut of emotions- nothing is faked here or one need not take this to his heart
but when going through all emotions of the game and one team winning and losing
sinking into him- next day comes, that he the billion eye-ball which sells and
breathes life into the game has been cheated is simply UNPARDONABLE.
Can you
believe that advertisements are made in make believe fashion to fan passion of
a fan for a game played by punters. TELL me it’s a JOKE.
A country which eats, lives
and breathes cricket has been simply CHEATED by its protectors BCCI.
Srinivasan feels hounded
while public is being cheated; he being an Indian citizen having reached a
level where you can see all through your wealth/ progress/ development must
have behaved more responsibly for once.
What is it that you do not
possess- with everything around you as a Raj dharma as Cricket board President
you should have maintained the Punctilio of the sport's body; this has
been desecrated. If IPL seasons have all been played with same venom then
lets just say that IPL is another form of Betting and make amendments
accordingly.
I as a country's citizen
will abstain from the Betting season you have created. Kindly undo your wrong.
India's judicial system has not been in its pink of its health- hence your
chances of being dragged to court- your hands in chains- spending nights at
Puzhal jail are all too remote. But your misadventure in a country like US
would definitely see you through the process of justice, India being young and
still trying to find its feet, need more responsible sports enthusiast rather
than blubber like you trying to hog high society's limelight.
Its time you bent down on
your fat filled feet and paid remorse to your acts, yes of course in complete solitude for
your self-realization.
Sorry I have been harsh in my words but considering
your fighting qualities in world of business you have been a BAD SPORT for
cricket.
Yours Distraught,
Cricket Fan.
